Real Sounds
Call for Expressions of Interest from Bands and Artists
Real Sounds is a new TV series that promotes music, artists and independent labels to a broad audience
Real Sounds supports all music genres and will be going to air nationally in 2007 (network is yet to be confirmed)
Real Sounds is funded by the grass roots of the industry instead of the "big players" with their program control, and is structured very differently to existing music television in Australia. This ensures that we’ll maintain a high level of musical integrity.

The series is not a music video collection; our segments include industry advice, education, musical etiquette, how to play or sing, legendary licks by the masters who created them, celebrity interviews, CD launches and featured performers - such as you!

The program is co-ordinated and presented by experienced professionals in television and music. Our website will be a solid support encouraging viewers to contact you directly for gig bookings and CD purchases.

Real Sounds is supported by the Australian Independent Muso’s Network Inc and singing.com.au.

Real Sounds Be seen and heard in a high-quality audio-visual environment!

You will have excellent exposure to a wide audience, live promoters and record company executives. Increase your gig bookings, CD sales and industry profile. Whether you are an independent artist or work through an agency, Real Sounds will work for you.

There are several opportunities in the show to promote your performance:

Gig and CD Guide

The Gig and CD guide displays your performance or CD with vision and sound. Voice over and graphics are used to promote your gigs, album and website. This is arguably the best value marketing on television – you’ll be surprised at the low cost.

Performances

Performances are broadcast between 2 and 3.5 minutes in duration. We will provide high production values with broadcast-quality video of your performance, using a professional multi-camera studio. Included in the cost is a DVD of the performance that you can use as a demo. We can also broadcast your existing video if it meets our show requirements. Our show is not a music video show, so your clip must be of a "live" performance, with footage showing you performing the song. Longer performances are possible. You can even get third parties to sponsor your segment if you like – maybe your favourite local venue or music store!

Interview

Limited opportunities are available to add value to your performance. An interview gives audiences the opportunity to get to know you and bond with you as fans. They will respond with action - checking your website for more information and purchasing your music. This is available as a package with a performance.

Real Sounds Content Rules

All performances must meet a G-rating, so unsuitable lyrics must be avoided or bleeped. Similarly, unsuitable clothing or behaviour cannot be broadcast. We require expressions of interest so that we can make final decisions about our line-ups, broadcast channel and sponsors. Your expression of interest does not obligate you to any contract regarding this series.

Artist’s Costs

Real Sounds is funded partially by artists themselves sponsoring their own segments. Your TV appearance can cost as little as $350. Consider asking your local venue to support you with some, or all, of the costs; we can place their sponsorship logo on the screen and/or include it in your interview.

Below is an approximate guide to sponsorship broadcasting and production costs.

Gig and CD Guide

$350 for 12 seconds. The artist must provide video or artwork and sound file(s).

Performance or Interview

Bookings start from 30 seconds and are costed at approx $1,000 per minute of "air time". Real Sounds provides multi-camera production and full sound & film crew, make-up and hair artist, and a high quality DVD of your performance and/or interview to keep.

Your existing footage can be included in the show at approximately $500 per minute of airtime. Significant savings can be achieved by recording or supplying two or more songs to be broadcast in separate episodes.

Real Sounds Broadcast-Quality Footage

Broadcast-quality footage of your performance will be available for you to use on other programs.
